πΏ Tour Overview
A three-day cycling adventure from the imperial city of Hue to the remote highland district of A LΖ°α»i, home to Ta Oi and Pa Co ethnic communities. Ideal for adventurous travelers seeking to explore Vietnamβs hidden cultural landscapes.
π Itinerary
Day 1: Hue β Thuy Bieu β Thanh Toan β Phong Son
We begin the journey with a relaxed ride through Hueβs countryside, visiting Thuy Bieu pomelo village and Thanh Toan Covered Bridge. Youβll pedal along quiet paths lined with rice fields and lotus ponds, stopping to explore small markets and old temples.
The route gradually leads us northwest toward Phong Son, a hot spring area near the foot of the Truong Son Mountains. We stay overnight at a peaceful guesthouse or eco-lodge near the stream, enjoy a soak in the mineral waters, and rest up for the climb ahead.
Day 2: Phong Son β A Co Pass β A Luoi Town
After breakfast, we begin a challenging but scenic climb through the A Co Passβa forested mountain road along the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail. The route features jungle scenery, military relics from the Vietnam War, and panoramic views over the Annamite range.
We break for a picnic lunch along the pass, then continue downhill into A LΖ°α»i valley, a remote region inhabited by the Ta Oi and Pa Co minorities. Here we stay in a basic but welcoming village homestay, where youβll share dinner with the family and learn about their customs, gongs, and textile weaving traditions.
Day 3: A Luoi β Ta Oi Villages β Hue (via transfer)
In the morning, we cycle around A Roang and nearby Ta Oi villages, visiting community weaving houses and cultural centers. If available, we may join a short bamboo raft ride or trek to a nearby waterfall.
After lunch at a local market, we pack up the bikes and return to Hue by support vehicle (approx. 2.5 hrs), arriving by late afternoon β full of stories, images, and connections from a side of Vietnam few travelers see.
