🗓 Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City – Ben Tre – Cho Lach
We begin our adventure with a transfer from Ho Chi Minh City to Ben Tre, the land of coconuts. After arriving in the delta, you’ll hop on your bike and start riding through peaceful villages lined with coconut palms and bamboo fences. The narrow lanes take you past rice paddies, tropical fruit gardens, and small family farms. Along the way, we stop at a local cottage industry to see how coconut candy or woven mats are made by hand.
Lunch is served at a riverside garden restaurant, featuring Mekong specialties. In the afternoon, continue cycling deeper into the countryside, crossing small bridges and greeting friendly locals. We end the day in the district of Cho Lach, where you’ll settle into a cozy riverside homestay. Enjoy a warm welcome, a home-cooked dinner, and a quiet night by the river.
Day 2: Cho Lach – Tra Vinh
After a hearty local breakfast, we set out on one of the most beautiful cycling routes of the trip. Today’s journey takes you through the heart of Tra Vinh province, home to a large Khmer community. The scenery changes subtly as we ride past lotus ponds, Khmer-style temples, and traditional stilt houses. The cultural blend in this region makes it especially unique, and you’ll have the chance to visit a temple or chat with monks along the way.
We stop at a small local market where you can taste tropical fruits and Vietnamese iced coffee. After lunch at a roadside eatery, we continue riding quiet paths through mango orchards and shaded canals. The ride ends in Tra Vinh town, where you check in to a family-run guesthouse or local homestay. The evening is free to relax or explore on foot before a delicious dinner with your hosts.
Day 3: Tra Vinh – Can Tho – Cai Rang Floating Market – Ho Chi Minh City
On the final day, we enjoy an early morning transfer to the outskirts of Can Tho, where we do a final stretch of cycling along scenic rural paths leading into the city. This relaxed ride offers a last chance to take in the peaceful landscapes and morning village life of the delta.
After reaching the boat pier, we board a traditional boat to visit Cai Rang Floating Market—a vibrant maze of boats loaded with fruits, vegetables, and daily goods. It’s a vivid and authentic glimpse into the region’s trade culture that hasn’t changed much in decades. After time to explore the market and its surroundings, we enjoy lunch at a local restaurant by the river.
In the afternoon, we drive back to Ho Chi Minh City, ending a rich and rewarding journey into the soul of the Mekong.
